Frequently Asked Questions

What languages are supported?

Language Loop supports 20+ languages through Apple’s Translation framework, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Polish, and more.

Does it require an internet connection?

Only for the initial download of language packs. Once downloaded, all translation can happen on-device — enable On-Device Mode in macOS Settings for fully offline, private translations.

Does it work with any app?

Yes. Language Loop captures directly from the screen, so it works with any application — browsers, PDFs, images, videos, games, and more.

Is my data private?

Completely*. All processing (screen capture, text recognition, and translation) runs locally on your Mac. With On-Device Mode enabled, no data is sent anywhere.

How do I enable on-device translation?

Open macOS Settings › General › Language & Region › Translation Languages. Download the language packs you need, then enable “On-Device Mode”. Once enabled, all translation stays on your device with no network calls required.

Can I translate multiple areas at once?

Yes. You can create as many overlays as you need, each with independent language settings — monitor game subtitles and a chat window simultaneously.

What macOS version is required?

Language Loop requires macOS Tahoe (macOS 26) or later.

Does it work on multiple monitors?

Yes. Language Loop detects which monitor your cursor is on and captures from the correct display, with full Retina support.
