Spatial Terminal for Apple Vision Pro

Your Dev Environment, All Around You

Connect to your servers over SSH and arrange terminals, web previews, a code editor, and live Mac windows in panels around you.

Every session is backed by tmux — take the headset off, lose Wi-Fi, come back: your work is still running.

No accounts. No analytics. Your keys never leave the device.

How It Works

Three steps to a spatial workspace.

01

Add Your Server

Enter a hostname and credentials — or generate a Secure Enclave key on device and add its public key to your server. tmux on the server is all Terminaut needs.

02

Connect & Arrange

Your terminal opens in a crisp glass window. Pin panel stacks to any edge — extra terminals, live web previews, a browser-based code editor.

03

Work Anywhere

Sessions live in tmux on your server, so nothing dies when you step away. Reconnection is automatic; your layout is restored exactly as you left it.

Features

A terminal that thinks spatially.

Panel Stacks

Pin tabbed panels to any edge of your terminal — top, bottom, left, right. Mix terminals, web previews, a code editor, and Mac windows. Resize, reorder, and move everything with keyboard shortcuts.

Sessions That Survive

Every connection attaches to a tmux session on your server. Headset off, network drop, force-quit — your processes keep running and Terminaut reattaches automatically.

Mac Window Streaming

Stream any Mac window into a spatial panel with the free Terminaut Companion app — low latency, discovered automatically on your local network.

Real Keyboard Support

Ctrl, Option-as-Meta, arrows, F-keys — everything your terminal and vim expect from a hardware keyboard. Customizable shortcuts with vim-style panel navigation.

Voice Commands & Dictation

Switch sessions, open panels, or dictate straight into the focused terminal. Powered by Apple’s Speech framework.

Private by Design

SSH keys are generated in the Secure Enclave and never leave your device. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking — your data is not collected, full stop.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

An Apple Vision Pro running visionOS 26 or later, an SSH server (Linux or macOS) with tmux installed, and ideally a Bluetooth keyboard. Terminaut is a client — your code runs on your own servers.

tmux is what makes sessions indestructible. Every Terminaut session attaches to a tmux session on your server, so taking the headset off, losing Wi-Fi, or quitting the app never kills your work. If tmux is missing, Terminaut tells you exactly how to install it.

A Bluetooth hardware keyboard is strongly recommended — Terminaut is built keyboard-first, with full Ctrl/Option/arrow/F-key support and customizable shortcuts. Voice commands and dictation work alongside it.

Terminaut can launch VS Code’s browser UI (code serve-web) on your own server and show it in a spatial panel next to your terminal. The app ships no Microsoft code — it runs on your server, under your account.

Install the free Terminaut Companion app on your Mac. It advertises itself on your local network; pick any window and it streams into a spatial panel with low latency. Use it on networks you trust — the stream stays entirely on your LAN.

On your device, and nowhere else. SSH keys are generated inside the Secure Enclave and cannot be exported; passwords you choose to save are stored locally. Terminaut has no servers and collects no data.
